9/12-9/13 The Language of Wine with Domaine Berrien and Winemaker Amy Birk
The Language of Wine with Domaine Berrien
Event Description
Ever take a sip of wine, know you like it… and then have absolutely no idea how to describe why? ๐ท
Or hear someone say they smell flowers, berries or spices in a wine and wonder, How are they getting THAT?
Join Domaine Berrien winemaker Amy Birk for The Language of Wine, a fun, hands-on wine tasting experience designed to help you better understand what you’re smelling and tasting โ and find the words to describe it.
Using a professional wine aroma kit, aroma wheels and six Domaine Berrien wines, Amy will guide you through different aroma families and help you make connections between what your senses are picking up and the words we use to talk about wine.
You’ll explore:
๐ท How to recognize different aromas in wine
๐ How to train your nose and sensory memory
๐ธ Why wines can smell fruity, floral, earthy, spicy and more
๐ Where wine aromas actually come from
๐ง How to put what you’re smelling and tasting into words
๐ท How winemaking choices influence what’s ultimately in your glass
No wine expertise required. There’s no pressure to find the โrightโ answer โ this experience is all about slowing down, paying attention to your senses and becoming more confident talking about wine.
You’ll smell. You’ll sip. And you’ll probably have a few โOH! That’s what that is!โ moments along the way.
Come curious. Leave speaking wine. ๐ท
